Florida Spring Break 2016 Day 9

Florida Spring Break 2016

Day 9 - Marion, IL to Home.... Boooo! (And snow!)

Overall it was 9 days/10 nights and 2465 miles. Average 9.1MPG, $470 on gas and $50 on one campground! We Wally-Docked most nights!

Main reason for Wally-Docking was testing how long our 21 and 23 gallon fresh water tanks would last. 6 days was the limit as you can see the campground on the 6th night. Could of filled with water somewhere and would of never had to.

Saved enough by doing this for our next trip to Winnipeg. So we didn't spend the entire time on the beach. There's a few lakes around home.

Florida Spring Break 2016 Day 8

Florida Spring Break 2016

Day 8 - Calhoun, GA to Marion, IL

The stop planned for the next day was Nashville TN. Parked in the Bicentennial Capitol Mall State Park area and walked in.

Huge map of Tennessee!
The chandeliers are amazing!
A lot of interesting close to the capitol. This is Legislative Plaza. There's a museum on the east side but we surpassed it for now.
Couple blocks over and free!
Decided to walk to the east. A lot to do and see in downtown and around Nashville. Going to plan another trip there someday.

Waterfront...

Departed Nashville that evening booked it to Marion IL and to the cold. Stayed at Walmart that night.

Florida Spring Break 2016 Day 7

Florida Spring Break 2016

Day 7 - Moultrie, GA to Calhoun, GA

The next day we continued north to Atlanta GA. Visited the downtown area and capitol building. Traffic was interesting to say the least!

The museum is on the upper floor and free!
Liberty Plaza out back of the capitol building.
Walked a bit south to Olympic Way and the Braves stadium.

A trip anywhere isn't complete for my wife without visiting a new one of these...

I think I said something about traffic!

Got going a bit late. Ended up at Calhoun GA Walmart around 9 that night. Woke up with 2 other RV's around us!

Florida Spring Break 2016 Day 5

Florida Spring Break 2016

Day 5 - Gulf Breeze, FL to Mexico Beach, FL

Back tracked again on 98 to 399 and drove the along the Gulf Islands National Seashore. Recommend this drive!!!

Stopped at Navarre Beach for most of the day. Walked the pier before lunch and a swim. They claim the pier is the longest into the Gulf of Mexico. $1 a person.

Time for a swim!

Stayed for 3-4 hours and headed on via 98. Ended up after a long drive in Mexico Beach, FL at El Governor Campground.

Arrived late but the stand in camp host met us and found us a spot. Recommend this campground! Right across the road from the beach. Pictures on day 6.

Florida Spring Break 2016 Day 4

Florida Spring Break 2016

Day 4 - Pensacola, FL to Gulf Breeze, FL

The Walmart we stayed at was right down the road from the Naval Air Station. On the list was National Museum of Naval Aviation, Fort Barrancas and the Pensacola Lighthouse.

Stayed until 1 or 2 and moved on. The boys loved this as well!

You can only go up in the lighthouse on Friday, Saturday and Sunday. It was half price to see just the museum. They have night events and supposedly the caretakers house is haunted.

Headed to Gulf Breeze, FL and the Walmart for the night.

Florida Spring Break 2016 Day 3

Florida Spring Break 2016

Day 3 - Daphne, AL to Pensacola, FL

Back tracked a bit on 98 to Battleship Memorial Park. Recommend highly, the boys loved it (big and small!).  USS Alabama, USS Drum.. alot of retired (if that's the proper term) military equipment!
Lunch was at the park. Has a pier, picnic table the works.

Could of spent all day there easily but was ready for a break in the form of driving! Again highly recommend this stop. Alot more pictures but can only post so many.

Next stop that day was Alligator Alley in Summerdale AL. Don't let the price stop you from visiting. The boys loved this as well (big and small again!). Got to feed the various ages of gators and watch their reactions. And the highlight of place getting to hold a alligator!

Stayed for a couple hours and headed on via 98. Note we did take 98 most of the way from Mobile, AL, barely squeezed in the tunnel with a 12ft height ours is 11ft (keep this in mind!). Ended up at Pensacola Walmart that evening a bit to early so headed back east to Orange Beach AL.

A bit chilly but swam anyways! Headed back to the Walmart for that night.
