Road to Niagara Part 8!

On the last day of July 2015 we set out for Niagara Falls. This is part 8 of the trip.

Stayed in the state fair parking lot that night. It is paid parking so expect to leave early the next morning. Got a knock on the door by the highway patrol. Next day was the state capitol and downtown area. Parked at the Cosi the only place we could find for the RV.

Interesting area! Headed to Indiana for their state fair after Columbus. 

Got to Indianapolis to late and beat to go to the fair that evening. Stayed at the KOA Indianapolis that night. No complaints.. great pool. The next day was the IN state fair.

Road to Niagara Part 7!

On the last day of July 2015 we set out for Niagara Falls. This is part 7 of the trip.

After attraction #1 went to KOA Niagara Falls NY.. a bit of rain that night! Could be me but the NY KOA folks didn't seem as friendly, maybe too much time in Canada. Battened down the hatches the roads are rough in NY. 

Next day attraction #2.. the aquarium! 

Attraction #3.. Discovery Center! Interesting but does give you the history of the falls and the area. 

Attraction #4.. Cave of the Winds! This was fun!

Attraction #5 was the Niagara adventure theatre. No pics was interesting, think the movie was around 60 minutes. Started to head south after the attractions we're not much into shopping. Took Highway 5 south..  Buffalo NY..

Alot of closed plants along the route... you could tell how prosperous the area once was. Sad state of affairs. Stopped at a hamburger joint in Derby NY. Recommend it!

Quick stop for a break. 

Stayed at a NY state park that night. Lake Erie in the background. Besides a skunk that camped out under the RV great night! 

Hit the road the next day to Columbus OH and the OH state fair.

Road to Niagara Part 6!

On the last day of July 2015 we set out for Niagara Falls. This is part 6 of the trip.

Niagara Falls US side! Parked at the aquarium and walked to the falls. The only place we could find to park the RV.  We bought the Discovery Pass which gives you five attractions at a reduced price. A couple of the attractions were ehhh but overall it was a good deal. But took a trip to the falls first!

Maids of the Mist was attraction #1! Yes you will get wet.. it was a blast!

Road to Niagara Part 5!

On the last day of July 2015 we set out for Niagara Falls. This is part 5 of the trip.

We made it to Niagara Falls that evening. It was a national Canada holiday so most stores were closed. Stayed at the Niagara Falls KOA that night. The price almost made me fall over. Turned out it was in Canadian dollars, after the conversion was comparable to the US KOA rate. Quite the campground with lots for the kids and 2 pools with a hot tub. 

 

The next day headed to the falls on the Canadian side. Parked the RV at the Rapidsview North station and rode the WeGo bus to the falls. The bus was free but parking isn't, the booths were closed so the parking was free also. Think we got there before they opened.

Stayed till noon and headed the American side of the falls.
